Open Research Grant
The purpose of setting up Open Research Grant in the laboratory is to attract scholars from both domestic and international backgrounds to visit and exchange ideas at this laboratory. Individuals who obtain Open Research Grant must collaborate on related projects as visiting scholars at this laboratory, with the visiting scholars serving as the principal investigators for the Open Research Grant.
Through the establishment of Open Research Grant and collaborative research, the laboratory's influence has been enhanced, its research scope has been expanded, scientific research achievements have been improved, and scientific and academic exchanges with external institutions have been promoted. Furthermore, the sharing of laboratory instruments and equipment has been further expanded through Open Research Grant.
Open Research Grant is divided into two categories: key and general. Key Open Research Grant requires alignment with the laboratory's research direction and must be applied for and undertaken by individuals who meet the criteria for senior visiting scholars. Priority is given to funding joint Open Research Grant associated with the laboratory's independent research topics. The funding for key Open Research Grant generally ranges from 100,000 to 200,000 RMB per project. General Open Research Grant primarily supports exploratory research and the cultivation of young scholars, with funding typically amounting to 50,000 RMB per project.
When proposing Open Research Grant, the laboratory adheres to a system of public defense and evaluation, supplemented by review by the laboratory director. The application and execution process for Open Research Grant involves the following steps: publication of guidelines, submission of applications, peer review, defense of key projects, discussion and confirmation of funded projects at director meetings, midterm reporting, and project completion inspection.
The laboratory has established a system whereby each open research topic must have a designated contact person from among the permanent staff, responsible for the daily tracking and management of the topic. For each key open research topic, fixed personnel from the laboratory are required to participate in collaborative research and engage in substantive cooperation. The use of funds must strictly adhere to the relevant regulations for the use of laboratory funds.
